Daylight saving 2026: forex hours in the mismatched week

In Europe daylight saving ends on Sunday 25 October 2026, in the United States on Sunday 1 November. For one week London and New York are four hours apart instead of five: New York opens one hour earlier relative to Europe, and the overlap of the two centres lasts five hours instead of four.

When do the clocks change in 2026?

In Europe on Sunday 25 October 2026, at 01:00 UTC. In the United States on Sunday 1 November 2026, at 02:00 in New York, which becomes 01:00. Japan has no daylight saving. Between the two dates there is one week in which Europe and the United States are out of step.

Hours in the three phases, in UTC

Each centre keeps its own local hours (Tokyo 09:00–18:00, London and New York 08:00–17:00): what moves is where they fall in UTC.

What changes when reading an hourly chart?

Hourly bars in UTC do not change: a bar from 13:00 to 14:00 UTC stays the same bar. What changes is which centre is open during it. In the mismatched week the New York open falls one hour earlier relative to the European bars, and the overlap window is one hour longer.

Meridian Engine readings, by Horizon AI, refer every time to the close of the bar in UTC, precisely so as not to depend on daylight saving. The market hours clock does the arithmetic itself, with the browser’s time zone database.

And in March?

The same happens the other way round. In 2026 the United States moved to daylight time on 8 March and Europe on 29 March: from 8 to 28 March New York opened one hour earlier for anyone in Europe. In 2027 the dates will be 14 March in the United States and 28 March in Europe.
